I'M HAPPY
YOU'RE HERE
Hey there – I'm Anna.
I've been telling stories for my entire life, and am now lucky enough to live through that passion daily as a communications – digital media and public relations – professional in sports.
I grew my communications skills at the University of Iowa, finding my own path toward sports in 2017. Over three years at The Daily Iowan grew me into a well-established reporter (hover over that pic for my favorite story from this era), sending me to Pittsburgh for the NCAA DI Wrestling Championships and San Diego for the Holiday Bowl in 2019.
Following an internship with the Indianapolis Indians during my summer before graduation, I found a home in the Circle City in a full-time role with the team. I finally got to dive into storytelling where my heart had always been: Baseball.
Over the years, I've interviewed Hall of Famers Scott Rolen and Tony LaRussa (13-year-old Anna would have been freaking out), Cleveland Indians legend Rocky Colavito, and countless Pittsburgh Pirates.
I've written more press releases, game recaps and sets of game notes that I can count. In 2024, I served as the primary team contact for 2024 NL Rookie of the Year Paul Skenes during his time in Indianapolis.
I'm happy you're here.
I can't wait to share more of my story with you.

This is my favorite story to tell.
2018 was my first season covering the highly-ranked Iowa wrestling program and the No. 1-ranked wrestler at 125 pounds (and soon-to-be three-time NCAA champion and Olympic silver medalist) Spencer Lee. It was media day, the usual suspects gathered in the Feller Club Room of Carver Hawkeye Arena as Tom Brands took the stage for his preseason presser.
One question from a random reporter across the room lit a fire under Brands, and he starts going off the way Brands is legendary for. I'm sitting there like,
Holy hell, what did I get myself into?
Needless to say, I asked no questions. I felt way in over my head.
20ish minutes later, we're all standing in the wrestling room downstairs at CHA. I'm gathering myself, checking headshots on the online roster to match names to faces. Have I mentioned I had never been to an Iowa wrestling dual up to this point? Shameful, I know.
I'm just about to go chat up Spencer Lee when someone taps me on the shoulder. It's Tom Brands, who just 20 minutes earlier was filling up the room with his agitation. He had remembered me from when we were introduced at wrestle-offs the week prior.
"How are you doing? Is everyone treating you alright?" He asked.
He didn't have to, but he did.

That was the first time I truly felt like I belonged in sports. I felt seen. My voice was heard. I wasn't just taking up space, I was valued in it.
I've never left.
